THE OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE UNITED STATES - March 8-10, 2005 - |
The President of the United States of America , George W. Bush, will host the President of Romania, Traian Basescu , at the White House on March 9th, 2005 .
The official visit aims the consolidation of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States at a political, military and economic level. The agenda of discussions will also include regional issues, with highlighting on aspects related to the Black Sea Area and the Balkans, the affirmation of Romania's involvement along with the United States in promoting freedom, democracy and fighting against terrorism, the availability and the special interest in further supporting the democratization process and stability in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The two Presidents share a common commitment in promoting freedom, President Bush appreciating Romania 's contribution in promoting democracy and stability in Iraq , Afghanistan , the Balkans and the Black Sea Area.
President Basescu aims to enhance the value of the strategic and economic potential of Romania in the relation with the United States , discussing and evaluating the partnership offers and opportunities in these fields. He will also present the political and economic evolutions in Romania and the foreign affairs priorities of our country.
President Traian Basescu will be hosted at Blair House, the official residence for the US President's guests.
