The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, met on Wednesday, January 12 th , 2005 , the top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Europe , General James JONES.
The meeting took place in the context of General Jones' visit to Romania (January 12th - 13 th ), in order to continue the strategic Romanian – American dialogue on the reconfiguration of the US forces positioning abroad.
The head of the Romanian diplomacy reconfirmed the interest of Romania in hosting American facilities on its territory, that could contribute to the bilateral cooperation and developing of useful capacities for NATO.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also underlined the interest of Romanian in continuing to strengthen the Romanian – American dialogue on the regional security issue, especially in the Black Sea area.
The American guest considered that his visit consolidated the strategic strenghts of Romania and the bilateral dialogue on this issue will continue in the perspective of implementing projects of common interest.
