First Romanian-American Joint Committee Meeting

 

 

The Center of Coordination and Monitorization of Implementation of the Agreement of Access (CCMIA) in the Department of Defense Policy and Planning organized on April 21, 2008 the First Romanian-US Joint Committee Meeting on implementation of Law no. 268/2006 on the “Agreement between Romania and the United States of America on the activity of the US forces stationed on the Romanian territory”.

The Romanian and US officials approved the working procedures, structure and the mandate of the Joint Committee, as well as those of the auxiliary organisms and administrative structures.

The meeting was attended by Corneliu Dobriţoiu, State Secretary, head of the Department of
Defense Policy and Planning, representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform. The United States was represented by Major General Robertus Remkes, U.S. European Command (EUCOM) Director for Strategy, Policy and Assessments, members of USAREUR and USAFE, as well as of the US Embassy in Bucharest.

The general framework
of development of the training program in 2008 and the perspectives of the US forces training in Romania in 2009 – in accordance with the Common US-Romanian Training Plan - were also approached during the meeting.
