1st ROMANIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF CHICAGO
 

 

OPENS WITH CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’ (Endless), DECEMBER 9-13, 2007 CHICAGO

Chicago is home to the second largest Romanian-American population in the United States and December 9th will usher in the opening of the first ever Romanian Film Festival of Chicago, December 9-13th, 2007, presented by The Round Table Society.

 "A Romanian Film Festival in Chicago is something we felt has been needed for several years.  With the increasing interest in Romanian film making world-wide, we felt there couldn't be a better time to begin."  said Ramona Briciu, Vice President of Cultural Affairs for The Round Table Society. "Film is a medium that brings all cultures together, and we believe this initiative will benefit not only the growing Romanian community of Chicago, but all the people who are passionate about film."

Highlights include:

Ø      California Dreamin’(Endless) directed by Cristian Nemescu, Winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2007 Cannes. Film Festival

Ø      Screenings of early and unavailable works by highly acclaimed directors: Cristian Mungiu – Winner of the Palme D’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival for 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days and Cristi Puiu - Winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival for The Death of Mr. Lazarescu).

Ø      A showcase of short films created by local Romanian artists, Irina Botea and Delia Popa

SCREENING LOCATION

The 1st Romanian Film Festival of Chicago will screen films at Stan Mansion, 2408 N Kedzie, Chicago, Illinois 60647. For additional information regarding the location please visit www.stanmansion.com.  All screenings will be digital.

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets for single and multiple film screenings which range in price from $7 - $30, are now on-sale and available by visiting www.roundtablesociety.org or on-site at Stan Mansion. Tickets will also be sold at the entrance before each screening based on availability.
