Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu visited the Netherlands on June 6-7, 2005.

During his visit, the Romanian Foreign Minister had meetings with his counterpart Bernard Bot , the minister of European Affairs Atzo Nicolai , representatives of the Foreign Policy Commission and European Affairs Commission and leaders of the parliament groups from the Senate and Chamber of Representatives. Minister Ungureanu also met with Rolf Ekeus , the OSCE High Commissioner of National Minorities and with Adrian Jacobovitz of Szeged , Special Representative of The EU for the Republic of Moldova and delivered the speech “Romania's Accession to the EU: Regional Implications”, at the Institute for International Relation s Clingendael.

The Dutch officials confirmed their support for Romania 's joining the EU, and observed the progress and the capability of Romania to meet the requirements for its accession. The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that Romania and Bulgaria should not be “victims of the Constitution Referendum results in France and the Netherlands , as the European Union assumed certain responsibilities for Romania and Bulgaria , including the signing of the Accession Treaty”.
