“In the aftermath of the signature of the intergovernmental agreement between Romania and Moldova, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will receive visa for free and the documents will be processed in emergency regime” Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu has stated today, on the occasion of the signature of SEECP Chart by the Republic of Moldova.


“In this way, we want to facilitate the access of the Republic of Moldova 's citizens to Romania and EU space.” The Croatian Vice – Premier, Mr. Damir Polancec has attended the signature ceremony in his capacity as representative of the SEECP Chairmanship - in – Office.

Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu has proposed the organization in 2007, of an intergovernmental meeting on topics of common interest.

“We want the projects of perspective as regards the transport and energy infrastructure development – to be conceived in such a way as to allow the Republic of Moldova to draw nearer to EU space, and, on the other hand, to allow us to take advantage of our strategic position in order to use this market with huge potential – Russia – to our and EU benefit”, Prime Minister Tariceanu has stated.

As regards the problems relative to Transnistria area, Prime Minister Tariceanu has stated that there is necessary a solution “in the European spirit and which must not affect the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova over its entire territory”.

On the meeting, the three dignitaries have discussed about the prospects of concluding a new CEFTA Agreement – the “CEFTA – Plus” Agreement – which to include Republic of Moldova too. Prime Minister Tariceanu has added that the final round of negotiations will take place in Brussels by the end of this month.

Today, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Vasile Tarlev has signed the Chart of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Bucharest, on a ceremony hosted by Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu .

The Croatian Vice – Premier, Mr. Damir Polancec has attended the signature ceremony in his capacity as representative of the SEECP Chairmanship - in - Office.


The signature of the Chart of SEECP represents for the Republic of Moldova”an important step towards the European space, after its inclusion in the current Stability Pact for South – East Europe”, Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu has stated, reminding that the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova among the states participant in the SEECP was one of the main coordinates of Romania's mandate at SEECP Chairmanship and within SEECP Troika.

The Head of the Executive has emphasized that the Republic of Moldova can count on Romania in regard to its European aspirations. “We will provide a steady support and probably the most disinterested in supporting Moldova 's cause. When I am saying disinterested, one should not understand that the historical and affective ties as well as all the other elements approaching us do not matter. We are interested in promoting Moldova because we consider it is the fairest support we can give to this country for its future, a future that should be best defined by security and prosperity”, Prime Minister Tariceanu has stated.

At the same time, Prime Minister Tarlev has stated that the Republic of Moldova has clearly and irreversibly set its EU accession objective. “The European integration policy of the Republic of Moldova relies on turning to good account all opportunities provided by the European good neighborhood policy, through the implementation of the Moldova – EU Plan of Actions and turning to good account the possibility to participate in the regional initiatives and processes from Eastern Europe”, Mr. Tarlev has further stated. “Despite all progress, we still have a lot to achieve”, the Prime Minister of Moldova has acknowledged.

The Head of the Executive has offered to Prime Minister Tarlev Romania 's expertise as regards the EU Accession. “We have offered our full support to the Republic of Moldova as regards the consolidation of the European aspirations. We are interested in Moldova 's signing an association agreement with EU, alike other countries from the region. We have offered to Prime Minster Tarlev the possibility to use our expertise, taking into account that Romania will become EU member in few months and we already have experience as regards the EU accession negotiations” Prime Minister Tariceanu has stated.

“I reiterate the fact that we give wholehearted support, in the most amiable way possible in order to help Moldova take quick steps towards fulfilling its major objective: EU Accession , when the enlargement process starts again” he underlined.

Stating that the enlargement of this organization confirms its role of regional cooperation forum, Mr. Damir Polancec has stated that it is a great pleasure for him as Chairman in office of SEECP to contribute to the welcoming of the Republic of Moldova into this organization.

He has added that economic cooperation is extremely important, being a factor of assuring stability and prosperity to the countries of the South – East Europe .

The SEECP Chairman has stated that the member states of the organization achieved significant progress in the democratic and economic development, this being an important step in the process of European and Euro – Atlantic integration.

   Mr. Damir Polancec has also stated that the Croatian chairmanship will continue to encourage the Euro- Atlantic aspirations of all participant states in SEECP, promoting the democratic and pro-European potential of the region.
