Mr. Dick Marty, P.A.C.E Rapporteur's conclusions on Romania are speculative character, and the launching of accusations on the basis of “indication” is unacceptable.
I want to underline the fact that the author himself has acknowledged that there is no evidence to support all his allegations about Romania . And I quote from the report: “all these factual elements do not provide definitive evidence of secret detention centers”. “There is no formal evidence at this stage of the existence of secret CIA detention centers in Poland , Romania or other Council of Europe member states”.
We remind that the Romanian authorities have cooperated in good faith with the Rapporteur of the Council of Europe, Mr. Dick Marty and that they have provided him all the available data every time he has requested them. All the requested information has also been conveyed both to international bodies and national or foreign NGOs interested in this topic.
Taking into account the seriousness of the topic, the Romanian authorities will continue to cooperate with the Rapporteur's team and they will analyze all the data presented in the report. Prime Minister requests all governmental institutions responsible in the field as well as the intelligence services to carefully analyze Mr. Dick Marty's report.
Prime Minister requests the Parliament of Romania, and especially Senator Norica Nicolai , president of the Parliamentary Commission of Investigation on this issue to finalize as soon as possible the investigation which started by the end of last year and to present publicly its conclusions.
