Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu has summoned a meeting at Victoria Palace, on October 17 th , for the evaluation of the measures taken by the authorities, aiming at preventing the virus from spreading, fighting against the aviary flu and continuing the interministerial coordination in this campaign |
On this meeting, Prime Minister has requested all Ministries and authorities involved in the fight against the aviary flu to take firm preventive measures, even if these measures imply efforts and high costs.
“ The Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and the other involved authorities have acted correctly so far. We have to continue in this way. I ask you to maintain an increased rally of the involved forces. We need the inhabitants of the areas to involve in our efforts to fight the aviary flu ”, the Prime Minister has added.
Also, the Prime Minister has requested the sanction of those who do not observe the decisions taken by the authorities with a view to prevent the spreading of the aviary flu. The Ministry of Administration and Interior will impose fines on the persons who do not observe the decision on the poultry isolation.
Prime Minister has also requested the strengthening of the sanitary veterinary controls in the towns and villages of Dobrogea .
“ The most important thing is to prevent the spreading of the virus. We will have much more problems if the virus spreads, than if we take preventive measures now ”, the Head of the Executive has stated.
Prime Minister Calin Popescu – Tariceanu and the Government launch an appeal to the population to cooperate with the authorities and to strictly observe the received recommendations, these being the necessary conditions to assure the efficiency of the actions taken by the state institutions.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Administration and Interior, Ministry of Environment and Waters Management, National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, and National Agency for Consumers' Protection have attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Tariceanu has involved in the interministerial coordination of the authorities' actions, as of the moment when the suspicion related to the possible existence of the virus in Romania emerged.
