On November 16, 2004 , The American Nuclear Society's Honors and Awards Committee presented the 2004 Weinberg Award to Professor Mihail Balanescu, Ph. D., “in recognition of outstanding international technical and policy leadership in nuclear science and technology and for consistently and efficiently illuminating the human dimensions of the nuclear enterprise”.
As one of the founding fathers of the Romanian nuclear program and former Vice President of the IAEA Board of Governors, Professor Balanescu has been a prominent scholar and researcher for more than half a century, acquiring a wide recognition both nationally and internationally.
Professor Balanescu is the author of numerous scientific and technical patents, inventions and publications, and he is member with the General Society of Romanian Engineers and the New York Academy of Science.
