FLAG RAISING CEREMONY AT SUPREME ALLIED COMMAND TRANSFORMATION HQ., NORFOLK .
On Friday, April 2, 2004 , same time with the similar ceremony organized at NATO HQ in Brussels , NATO's Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT) hosted a flag raising ceremony marking the accession of the seven country recently confirmed as full members of the North-Atlantic Alliance.
The seven new NATO members are: Bulgaria , Estonia , Latvia , Lithuania , Romania , Slovakia and Slovenia.
During the ceremony the national flags were symbolical handed over to the representatives of the embassies of the 7 countries who pass them to the honor guard. The honor guard raised the flags in alphabetical order while the respective national anthem was performed.
Romania was represented at this event by:
• H.E. Sorin Ducaru, Ambassador of Romania to the U.S.,
• Colonel Viorel Angelescu, Romanian Defense Attaché,
• Mr. Dumitru Samoila, Honorary Consul Of Romania at Norfolk ,
• LTC Valentin Spataru, liaison officer of the Romanian General Staff to SACT.
