BUSINESS WEEK - Romania inflation rate slows in January
BUCHAREST, Romania
Romania's inflation rate slowed to 4.01 percent on the year in January, the country's statistics institute said Monday.
Prices for nonfood items fell 0.2 percent in the month due to a drop in natural gas prices, but services were up 1.4 percent.
Annual inflation to December was 4.87 percent.
The central bank, which has set an inflation target of 3 to 5 percent for 2007, cut its key lending rate on Friday by 0.75 percent to 8 percent.
