BitDefender technology to be integrated in ISS solutions
Bucharest , Aug 25 /Rompres/ - BitDefender, Softwin's data security division, signed a contract with America 's Internet Security Systems (ISS) for the integration of BitDefender antivirus and antispyware technologies in the Proventia Desktop Endpoint Security of ISS, Softwin reports.
ISS is a world leader in the line of preventive protection of corporate informatic networks.
According to Softwin, in the coming period, BitDefender solutions will also be included in other products of the American company.
"This partnership will allow us to offer a complete security solution capable to cope both with known threats and unforeseen attacks. The ISS Proventia Desktop product with BitDefender antivirus and antispyware technology will be available starting Q IV, 2006," declared Greg Adams, vice-president of the Product Development division of Internet Security Systems.
On developed markets, BitDefender and ISS target complementary segments. Whereas BitDefender focuses on the small & medium business and the consumer market, ISS has grown a tradition in the large corporate and governmental sectors. ISS is present with 35 offices in 20 countries and runs a network of partners all through the world.
"This partnership opens BitDefender's access to more than half of the companies in the Fortune 500 ranking that currently are ISS clients, yet without posing competition to its own distribution network. Moreover, it will substantially increase the reputation and number of users of technologies made in Romania ," said Bogdan Irina, BitDefender global marketing and sales manager.
Technology integration is one of the most important sales channels for BitDefender. The Romanian company has previously closed such alliances that facilitated its rapid entry on new markets. According to Softwin , South Korea 's second producer of antivirus solutions by the market share - Hauri - uses BitDefender technology. In the interval 2002-2003 such partnerships were also closed in Germany , paving BitDefender's entry on the market at the side of local software distribution leaders: Data Becker, G DATA and BUHL DATA .
To end the list, Denmark was also "invaded" by BitDefender technology following an alliance with Danish company BullGuard, that promoted it to one of the leading positions on the Danish information security market, right after the first three years since the company's emergence.

IBM announced the other days that it will acquire Internet Security Systems for about $1.3 billion or $28 per share.
