Meetings of Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu at UN Summit
Foreign Minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu on September 15 and 16 had a number of bilateral meetings as part of his participation in the UN Summit in New York, reads a release sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Saturday.
Thus, the Romanian minister met Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs of the US State Department Paula Dobriansky, as well as Palestinian Foreign Minister Nasser Al Kidwa.
In the above-mentioned span of time the Romanian minister also had a number of meetings with Tunisia's Foreign Minister Abdelwahab Abdallah, with Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs Abd al-Rahman and with Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Abdullah.
The Romanian chief diplomat also met Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Norway's Foreign Minister Jan Petersen.
Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu also had a meeting with Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Faouzi Salloukh.
The Romanian chief diplomat had a number of meetings with leading members of some US Jewish organizations (B'nai Brith International, Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee, Conference of the Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations). They revealed the significant progress made by Romania in the last few months as regards knowledge and cultivation of the Holocaust, especially the publication of the report drawn up by the Commission on Studying the Holocaust and setting up the Institute for Studying the Holocaust as well as the legislative measures recently adopted with a view to speeding up the process of returning the buildings abusively confiscated during the communist regime.
The bilateral meetings of the Romanian chief diplomat will also continue on Saturday, September 17, 2005, informs the MAE release.
