Romania town is Rockford 's 5th sister city

ROCKFORD — Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey and Emil Boc , the mayor of Cluj , Romania, signed an official proclamation making Cluj Rockford's fifth sister city at Monday's City Council meeting.

Representatives from Cluj joined Boc on the council floor as Rockford officials welcomed their city into a partnership of learning and cultural exchange.

Rockford's other sister cities include Brovary , Ukraine ; Changzhou , China ; Borgholm , Sweden ; and Ferentino , Italy .

Boc said he looks forward to learning from Rockford officials about urban planning, transportation, housing and public safety. “Right now, we are having increases in violence and drugs. It's becoming more of a problem ,” Boc said.
