ROMANIA: Optimism in the Oilseed Sector

There is considerable optimism about the future of Romania's oilseed sector, reflecting a change in emphasis from being a raw material supplier to the west to being an exporter of value added products.

Commenting on the change, the U.S. agricultural attache for the country noted that for the first time since 1990, Romania decreased its sunflower seed exports and more than tripled the amount of oil shipped to various destinations in Europe and the Middle East.
