POI Announces the Addition of Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania, – Pharm-Olam International Ltd. (POI) announces the opening of its new office in Romania, Pharm-Olam International (U.K.) Ltd. – Representative Office for Romania, located in the heart of the capital city, Bucharest.

With Romania's populous of 22 million, POI has expanded its presence in South-Eastern Europe and its opportunity to conduct global clinical studies. The harmonization of the Romanian regulatory procedures, with the new European Union (EU) legislation that began January 1, 2005 and the presence of experienced investigators and motivated patients, qualify Romania as an attractive target for clinical research.

Pharm-Olam International appointed Ramona Nicolescu, MD, as director of clinical operations in Romania. In this position, Dr. Nicolescu is responsible for POI-Romania's clinical operations and business development. Dr. Nicolescu brings several years of experience in clinical research both in the pharmaceuticals and CRO industries. She earned her medical degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest.

With the addition of Romania, POI now has offices in 17 countries and has conducted studies in more than 40 countries.
