The Romania-led international mission of experts to Georgia , under the aegis of the Community of Democracies

The Romania-led international mission of experts to Georgia , under the aegis of the Community of Democracies,   took place  in  Tbilisi  , on February 14-16 ,  2005.  21 experts representing both governmental and nongovernmental institutions from 12 countries participated in the Mission .

The conclusions were presented to the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Salome Zourabichvili , by the Romanian MFA representative, Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu. The report highlights the efforts of the Georgian Government to strengthen democratic institutions and the progress made in implementing the reforms and consolidating the relationship between governmental institutions   and   civil society. The Mission asserted the importance of the transfer of expertise   for  democratic  transition , in the spirit  of solidarity that defines the Community of Demmocracies .  

 The report also acknowledges the availability of the Georgian authorities to transparently share with the experts of the Mission and other states the problems that Georgian society and state institutions face, the reform expertise and best practices.

The Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs valued Romania 's contribution to organizing the Mission of the Community of Democracies and the level of expertise of the 21 members of the Mission . The final report will be examined by the Georgian Government in order to implement the recommendations highlighted in the conclusions session.

The Report and   the    follow-up action  plan , that   will be  prepared by Romania in cooperation with the Georgian Government,  will be presented by the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs at the ministerial meeting of the Community of Democracies at Santiago de Chile, in April, this year.
