"Cold Mountain" opens in Romania

 “ Cold Mountain ” , the biggest Hollywood movie ever made in Romania , opened on Thursday, March 4, in the Romanian theaters with a VIP screening hosted by the city of Brasov . Directed by Anthony Minghella and starring Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Renee Zellweger , " Cold Mountain " was shot in 2002 in the mountains and forests of this magical corner of southeastern Transylvania and released at Christmas. The event in Brasov was attended by the film's director Anthony Minghella , Romania 's Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs Razvan Theodorescu , US Ambassador to Romania , Michael Guest, British Ambassador to Romania , Quinton Quayle, Romanian Ambassador to the US , Sorin Ducaru , as well as by representatives of the Miramax Fil ms and Castel Fil m and Romanian press.
A VIP screening of the film will also be organized at Patria T heater in Bucharest on Friday, March 5. Part of the program is a Gala event with the participation of the movie's director Anthony Minghella , Miramax Fil ms and representatives of the Romanian Government. The Gala will be hosted by the Romanian distributor of the movie, Com Media, and the Romanian production houses Castel Fil m and România Fil m . The gala will be followed by the launch of Charles Frazier's best-selling Civil War novel of the same name, " Cold Mountain ”, published in Romanian by Polirom Publishing House.

About the Film

Directed by Academy-Award-winner Anthony Minghella ("The English Patient," "The Talented Mr. Ripley") and based on Charles Frazier's best-selling Civil War novel of the same name, " Cold Mountain " tells the story of Inman (Jude Law), a wounded Confederate soldier who is on a perilous journey home to his mountain community, hoping to reunite with his pre-war sweetheart, Ada (Nicole Kidman). In his absence, Ada struggles to survive and revive her father's farm with the help of intrepid young drifter Ruby (Renée Zellweger ).
