
WORKING VISIT TO THE UNITED STATES OF H.E. ADRIAN NASTASE ,
PRIME MINISTER OF ROMANIA

Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase will pay a visit to the United States at the beginning of the this week, on which occasion he will meet President George W. Bush at the White House. Nastase will chair a meeting of the UN Security Council on "UN Cooperation - regional organisations in the stabilization process", organized under the aegis of Romanian presidency of this body at the UN headquarters. He will also meet UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Along his visit, the Romanian head of Government will meet Republican majority leader within the US Senate Bill Frist, State Secretary Colin Powell, Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Rodrigo Rato y Figaredo. Also, during the meeting with Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham a cooperation agreement will be signed between the US Department of Energy, the Nuclear Agency and the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Monitoring in Romania aimed at fighting against the proliferation of nuclear materials and technologies. Nastase will also meet Chile's President Richardo Lagos and leaders of American companies interested in promoting business in Romania during a working meeting under the aegis of the "Business Council for International Understanding". In the end, the Romanian official will attend the inauguration of an office in Washington of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation.
