CNN promotes 'George Enescu' Festival
Bucharest, March 5 /Rompres/ - Under a recently signed media contract, CNN International and CNN Online will for the first time advertise the 'George Enescu' International Festival, the press bureau of the event announced on Monday.
The promotion campaign - that will be officially launched on March 12 - will be viewed in almost 150 million homes and hotel rooms via the CNN Europe, Mideast and Africa airing connection and is to span five weeks - in March and July - combining televised ads with the online support via www.cnn.com.
The promotion campaign features symphonic and chamber music concerts, recitals, opera and ballet shows that are part of the 2007 edition of the Festival, reads a release CNN Broadcasting remitted to its partners and team associates in Europe, the Mideast and Africa. 'We are pleased that the 'Enescu' Festival has chosen CNN to promote itself through. Due to CNN's broad enough and even elite audience, this is the ideal partnership,' said Werner Schopp, senior vice-president of the CNN International sales department.
'We would like to offer the whole world an overview of what Romanian cultural potential means, a genuine artistic celebration, and through CNN we can promote this image worldwide,' said the Romanian Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs Adrian Iorgulescu. Euronews also entered a media partnership for the promotion of this year's edition of the 'George Enescu' International Festival and Contest, to be held between Sept. 1 - 23.
Organizer of the event Artexim (acting as representative of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs), also signed contracts with another two European media networks: MEZZO television channel and Radio France Internationale.
MEZZO will announce the George Enescu Festival and Contest in the interval July - August through the broadcasts 'Magazine des Festivals' and 'Agenda,' whereas Radio France Internationale, which actually extended its partnership with the Festival (begun in 2005), will advertise the event in France and French-speaking countries in August.
Honorary president and artistic director of the 'George Enescu' Festival is Ioan Holender, director of the Vienna State Opera.
The program of the Festival will include, among others, 36 works of Enescu, 145 compositions from the universal repertory, 85 Romanian contemporary works. Nine foreign and eight Romanian symphonic orchestras, two opera troupes, five choruses and two quartets will perform during the event. All in all, 60 manifestations will be presented in the Bucharest concert and performance halls, 25 events will be staged in other cities - Brasov, Cluj, Iasi, Sibiu, Timisoara - and over 50 manifestations will be organized in the Festival Plaza.
