TEMPUS is a modern jazz trio whose players are from Washington DC area. Tempus draws heavily on the trio sounds of bassist Ray Brown and pianists Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett, and Brad Mehldau .

Marc Sorel , piano, most recently was the pianist for "Changeup," a collaborative recording of original songs produced by young jazz musicians based on the East Coast.  Marc was the pianist for the Yale Jazz Ensemble and while at Yale co- founded "The Jazz Aesthetic," a quartet that recorded more than 20 original songs and has performed in clubs in Manhattan and New Haven , Connecticut .  While at Yale, Marc organized the Yale Jazz Ensemble's first participation in the Williams Jazz Festival, which the Ensemble attended for consecutive years thereafter.  As a student at  Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda , Marc was the pianist for the Whitman Jazz Ensemble that placed first at the Festivals of Music National Competition. Marc was also pianist for the Whitman jazz combo that placed first out of 20 competing groups at the Chantilly Big Band Society's 2000 combo competition.

Dan Ryan , bass, is the former bassist for the Princeton Jazz ensemble, has played with Keter Betts, and has contributed to recordings with professional groups in the New York and Washington metropolitan areas, including "Changeup". Dan writes and records with numerous Washington DC groups in jazz, funk, Latin, rock, and folk styles.   Dan attended Walt Whitman High School with Marc, where he was also part of high school's national award-winning Jazz Ensemble, as well as the Jazz Ensemble that placed first at the Chantilly Big Band Society's 2001 Big Band competition. Dan also played in the combo that placed first at the Society's 2000 combo competition.  At Whitman, Dan was named to the All-State Jazz Ensemble and the All-County orchestra for his facility with the upright bass. 

Larry Ferguson is a 1999 graduate of Western Kentucky University (BME) with a degree in music education and a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan (MM) with a Masters degree in percussion performance where he was also the recipient of the Avedis Zildjian scholarship. Larry is currently a member of the U.S. Army Band “Pershing's Own”, and a busy freelancer in the Washington D.C. area playing jazz, pop, country, and orchestral/contemporary percussion. Larry has performed with Pete Seeger , Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine/ Audioslave ), Jill Sobule , Darryl Worley, Mark Wills, Kenny Thomas, Chris Isaak , Donald Byrd, Lester Chambers, Free Flight, John Clayton, Byron Stripling, and with many others including a long list of symphony orchestras.
