On November 11 - 20, 2006, a delegation of Romanian officials and experts in the field of Avian Influenza traveled to the US to participate in a training tour organized by US Department of Agriculture and its partners, University of Delaware and Delaware Technical & Community College. The delegation, led by State Secretary Marian Avram, President of the Romanian Veterinary & Food Safety Agency (ANSVSA), visited the Embassy of Romania on Monday, November 13, and met with Mrs.Daniela Gitman, charge d’affaires a.i. and with the Embassy team.

In Washington, the Romanian team will have meetings with high-level representatives from USDA, the State Department and USAID and then will continue their study tour with a two-day trip to Delaware. The program was funded by USDA and USAID, as part of the technical assistance provided by the US to Romania concerning avian influenza policy, planning & response.
