Board of Trustees visit Romania
March 22-24, 2006
Members of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMFUS) Board of Trustees visited Romania on March 22-24, 2006. The stop in Romania was part of a larger study tour of the Balkans, which included meetings in Belgrade , Pristina and Skopje. The purpose of the trip was to improve the Trustees' understanding of the region and to better acquaint them with the work of the Balkan Trust for Democracy and the Black Sea Region. In all four capitals, the trustees met with key political officials, diplomats, grantees, and leaders of NGOs.
In Romania, the Trustees met with National Security Advisor Sergiu Medar, State Secretary for Global Affairs Teodor Baconschi and a leading team of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for the Black Sea Policy. The delegation was composed of a select group of Trustees and GMF staff. |
