On July19, 2006, Col. George Codrea’s funeral military procession took place at the Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Washington, DC. Col. Codrea fought with US marine troops in the Second World War and during the US campaign in Pacific, when he was wound during a mission on the Guadalcanal Island. He was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism and courage and the “Purple Heart” for wound acquired on the battle field.
