Romanian Ambassador hosts the kick-off reception for the 2006 Young Republican Leadership Conference

On Wednesday, April 19, 2006 , Romanian Ambassador Sorin Ducaru hosted the kick-off reception for the 2006 Young Republican Leadership Conference (YRLC)
This is the first time when a Romanian delegation was invited to attend the 2006 YRLC. MP Cristian Adomnitei, President of the Youth Organization of the National Liberal Party of Romania (PNL) led the Romanian delegation.
Nicolee Ambrose, Chair of the Young Republican National Federation opened the reception. “When I visited Romania last summer, I was proud to express our country's gratitude for Romania 's help in fighting the global war on terror. I am thrilled that the YRNF is partnering with our strategic ally in making YRLC a successful conference,” said YRNF Chairman Nicolee Ambrose. “We are proud to be working with this great country that overthrew their oppressive communist regime in 1989 and now embodies Ronald Reagan's vision of freedom,” added the YRNF Chair.
She introduced Romanian Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, who told the 70 participants that “ Romania and the United States share a strategic partnership. We are allies in the war against terrorism and the advancement of freedom and democracy in the Black Sea region, the Middle East and other parts of the world. Almost 2,000 Romanian troops serve side-by-side with American soldiers in Afghanistan and in Iraq . Also, in the past six years, bilateral trade between Romania and the U.S. increased almost three times.”
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to host the leaders of the Young Republican National Federation on ‘Romanian territory,' for the Washington conference kick-off,” said Romanian Ambassador Sorin Dumitru Ducaru.
Brad Minnick , Executive Director- American Council of Young Political Leaders and MP Cristian Adomnitei, President Youth Organization National Liberal Party of Romania (PNL) also addressed the participants at the kick-off reception.
The participants at the 2006 YRLC will “travel” to two allied countries while in Washington: Romania and Germany. Participants first stopped at the Romanian Embassy on Wednesday April 19 th , for the kick-off reception and we'll have a similar event hosted by Dr. Klaus Scharioth, the Ambassador of Germany to the US , on Friday, April 21st, 2006.
