Romanian Ambassador Hosts a Reception for
the Harvard Club of Washington , DC

On June 15 th 2006 , Romanian Ambassador Sorin Ducaru hosted a reception for the Harvard Club of Washington, DC (HCW).
Mike Gaw, President of the Harvard Club of Washington introduced ambassador Ducaru, who gave a short presentation on Romania and the US-Romanian relations. During the questions and answers period, Harvard alumni had the opportunity to discuss with ambassador Sorin Ducaru about the Romanian-American strategic partnership, Romania's contribution to the war against terrorism and the reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the advancement of freedom and democracy in the Black Sea region, the Middle East and other parts of the world.
Ambassador Ducaru told participants that almost 2,000 Romanian troops serve side-by-side with American soldiers in Afghanistan and in Iraq . Also, ambassador Ducaru mentioned that in the past six years, bilateral trade between Romania and the U.S. increased almost three times.
Participants were also interested in the Romanian cultural life, and the educational and intellectual exchanges between the US and Romania.
Harvard Club of Washington DC (HCW) - is a non-profit organization chartered in 1883, which serves the interests of Harvard University , its graduates, and students in the Washington metropolitan area. HCW sponsors social and educational programs for alumni in and around Washington , DC.In addition, HCW works throughout the Washington area to enhance the welfare and reputation of Harvard, raise scholarship funds, and assist the admissions process by interviewing area applicants to Harvard College.
