Romanian Ambassador Delivers Closing Remarks at the ATHGO International Symposium titled “The Architects of the Future: Making the World Better Today”
On July 7, 2006 Romanian Ambassador Sorin Ducaru delivered the closing remarks at the ATHGO International Symposium titled “The Architects of the Future: Making the World Better Today.”
The event, scheduled for July 5-7, was held at the World Bank Headquarters and involved 200 university students, young professionals and diplomats from over a hundred universities, embassies and several non-governmental institutions. The opening remarks were delivered on July 5 th , by Paul Wolfowitz, president of the World Bank Group.
The three-day event focused on two objectives: 1) an effective introduction and education about the World Bank and three of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The symposium will discuss the MDG one (eradicating extreme poverty and hunger), two (achieving universal primary education), and six (combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases) and 2) exploring comprehensive implementation strategies for the discussed MDGs while considering the World Bank as one of the frontrunners in achieving the goals.
On July 5, ambassador Sorin Ducaru also hosted at the Romanian Embassy a reception for the participants in the ATHGO International symposium. |
