President Basescu : the American military court's decision in the Teo Peter case could be seen as “contempt”

President of Romania Traian Basescu stated on Wednesday that the American military court's decision in the case against the US marine involved in Teo Peter's case could be seen as “contempt” and he will not tolerate it.

According to the President, the military court “did not see what 22 million Romanians saw”.

"They shouldn't try to contradict us saying it was not true. Besides the fact that it is a decision that does not correspond to the facts in Romania , we could also see it as “contempt” and we will not tolerate this.” Stated President Basescu on the occasion of his presence to the Superior Council of Magistrates.

Martial Court in Virginia (US) found staff Sgt. Christopher VanGoethem that caused the vehicle accident resulting in the death of musician Teo Peter guilty of only false official statement and obstructing justice. He was found not guilty of the other two counts: adultery and negligent homicide.

Teo Peter, the Compact group bass singer, died on December 4 th 2004 in a car crash in Bucharest . ROMPRES
