Ambassador Sorin Ducaru participated in the National Reunion of Adopted Romanian Children which took place in Burlington , Vermont between July 14-17, 2005.
The event was organized by Sam Durham and Dale Riley and included seminars and presentations for parents as well as fun, engaging games and traditional Romanian dances for the kids. The Romanian Ambassador addressed the guests during the banquet, expressing his admiration and support for the efforts the American families made to raise the children adopted from Romania preserving their cultural heritage and a live connection with the country. Amb. Ducaru proposed that, since the reunion takes place every two years, in the alternate year the children and their families get together across the Atlantic, for an unforgettable Reunion in Romania.
Every year in December, the Romanian Embassy in Washington , DC organizes a Winter Holliday Party for the children adopted from Romania , another opportunity to experience Romanian culture, winter traditions and to meet other children adopted from Romania living in the US .
